Full Time Pharmacy Technician

Summary of Position:

• Provides support to the pharmacist, management, and other retail pharmacy technicians by providing professional and expeditious service to our prescription retail and long-term care customers. Responsible for entering new and updated prescription, documenting prescription in system, billing appropriate insurance for service, obtain necessary medication for prescription, schedule patients for clinical services, and communicating with physician and patients when necessary.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or a GED

License/Certification Requirements:

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification

Experience Preferred:

  • Prefer related experience in retail sales and pharmacy data entry.

Continuing Education:

  • Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Course as needed for renewal of certification credits as a Pharmacy Technician. Pharmacy Technician Certification Training can be provided if not completed.

Reporting Requirements:

  • Must report to Lead Pharmacist

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing for long periods, kneeling, stooping, and lifting (up to 50lbs) with full use of hands, arms, eyes, and voice. Reasonable and ergonomic accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities or to enhance workflow.

Computerized Requirements:

  • Competency, input, and retrieval of information in the following programs: Multiple EMR Systems, ValueHub, Pioneer, Register Checkout, and Microsoft Office, include faxing, copying, and printing capabilities. Training will be provided for all computerized requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide product and service information by answering questions and offering assistance to customers and providers.
  • Increase job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, both internally or externally company sponsored or self-directed.
  • Implement all new information related to federal, state, and local laws, products, procedures/ protocols, customer needs, updates, or changes as provided by management
  • Maintain computer software, hardware, and equipment operational by following recommended procedures and reporting malfunctions.
  • Maintain a consistent relationship with current clients, potential clients, or patients via phone or personal interaction.
  • Contact insurance companies, as needed, for coverage and claim denial investigation.
  • Notify Lead Pharmacist of any occurrences or situations arising in the pharmacy.
  • Assist with preparation and filling prescription process when necessary.
  • Assist in continually keeping a neat and orderly appearance with stocked and properly organized shelves.
  • Answering inbound phone call within 3 rings to respond and assist patients and provider in an expedited manner.
  • Consistently using proper greeting when calling facilities, providers, and patients or receiving inbound calls.
  • Resolving any minor issue with patient and provider via phone or in person, and reach out to Lead Pharmacist, Compliance Officer, or Billing Administrator for assistance.
  • Reporting on time as scheduled for every shift.
  • Accurately enter prescription, provider, and patient information in system
  • Document/scan valid prescription to system for documentation purposes.
  • Obtain any necessary labels or medication from stock for Retail Production Representative to complete.
  • Restock any medication bottle that are not being current used by Retail Production Representative.
  • Stock shelves and prescriptions with incoming orders with proper labeling applied.
  • Scheduling patients for Clinical Service appointments.
  • Maintain Clinical Service patient list of schedule appointment dates.
  • Transition to different positions throughout pharmacy when needed.

  • Competent in data entry of providers, patients, prescription, or client information.
